Our Unimog's previous life had been spent as a Ambulance in Bosnia. Fortunately it found its way to the west coast of Canada. She does not look anything like what we had purchased back in 1996, as many changes and improvements have been made. The Unimog has 16 gears forward and 8 reverse. Which allows for great off-road abilities and still able to travel on the highway up to 100 km. The Unimog has air over Hydraulics brakes and Heinz built a engine break, which is great on long steep hills. An over-drive was installed between the engine transmission which split the gears and went from 8 forward to 16 forward and dowbled the 4 reverse gears. The flex frame is great and allows lots of travel in rough terrain without adding tension between the cab and camper units.

First three photos above were taken around Port Alberni on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC Canada.

The last two photos are from El Mirage Dry Lake in Southern California,USA

If you look close you will see different stages of the modifications from the pictures shown. As in the small side windows can be seen in the Port Alberni photos from the top where they are not shown in the El Mirage photos. We found that a small window on each side of the mog where the Lounge is located at the rear was nice for ventilation during the day as well at night. A small tool box fits under the winch cover making it handy for minor adjustments.
